How AACA Was Started
The African American Cultural Alliance (AACA) was founded in October of 2008 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. After concluding a research on creating a nonprofit organization, it was determined that such an organization would be valuable in the La Crosse area. As a result of long hours, dedication, and commitment to the task, the AACA has become a reality.
Many hours and conversations occurred amongst several community members, who truly believed that La Crosse needed such organization-one that would support African American and interracial families who are movng into this area. Once AACA became a 501(c)3 entity, the city of La Crosse supported the mission statement and the by-in became collective throughout the county. Our research has shown that similar organizations In the area only lasted a year or two before they vanished. One of our fundamental goals is to ensure AACA organization will sustain longevity.
